00:03

With a shape-generated and modified part, you can perform a stress analysis to verify that the new part reacts as intended.

00:11

From the Quick Access Toolbar, click Open.

00:15

Navigate to where you saved the project files, select the IONIZER_HOLDER_BRACKET.1_3.ipt file, and then click Open.

00:26

This part file has already been run through the Shape Generator and modified,

00:31

based on criteria to create an optimal shape with less material.

00:36

You can now stress test the part to make sure it performs as well as the original part that you want to replace.

00:43

On the ribbon, in the 3D Model tab, Simulation panel, click Stress Analysis.

00:50

From the Analysis tab, Manage panel, click Create Study to start setting up the analysis criteria.

00:57

In the Create New Study dialog, Study Type tab, select Static Analysis, and then click OK.

01:05

The criteria that you set up for the stress analysis mirrors the criteria used to create the shape-generated mesh.

01:13

From the Constraints panel, click Fixed.

01:17

On the part, click the two bottom mounting faces to set the fixed constraints.

01:23

Click OK to close the Fixed Constraint dialog.

01:28

Next, you need to apply a force.

01:31

From the Loads panel, click Force.

01:34

In the Force dialog box, set a Magnitude value of 100 newtons.

01:40

Select the inside face edge on all four mounting slots.

01:48

Click OK.

01:50

Next, from the Mesh panel, click Mesh Settings.

01:55

In the Mesh Settings dialog, set the Average Element Size to 0.02, and then click OK.

02:03

In the Mesh panel, click Mesh View to calculate and generate the mesh.

02:11

From the Solve panel, click Simulate to run the study.

02:15

In the Simulate dialog, click Run.

02:20

The analysis result displays that, based on the shape generation, you can see the stress resulting from the design changes.

02:29

From the Exit panel, click Finish Analysis.

02:32

If you go back to the original Conveyer Assembly, you can update the part with the shape-generated part.

02:39

You will now have a lighter part that is as stiff as the original intended design.

02:45

Make sure to Save all your files before closing.
