Transcript
00:04
Model Builder automatically finds and acquires high-resolution data layers
00:08
and then builds models for your specified area of interest.
00:12
Model Builder is a fast, easy way to get started and is the recommended option for creating a new model.
00:19
To start a model using Model Builder, begin in InfraWorks Home.
00:24
Click Model Builder.
00:26
When selecting your area of interest, you have the option to choose your preferred view by clicking Switch to aerial for an aerial view,
00:34
or Switch to road for a road view.
00:37
Type a location, address, or point of interest into the search field,
00:42
or zoom in on the map to navigate to a location.
00:46
Then, select your specific area of interest.
00:49
You can select Current Map Extents, draw a Rectangular Area of Interest on the map,
00:55
draw a Polygonal Area of Interest on the map, or import a Polygonal Area of Interest on the map.
01:03
You can select an area up to two hundred square kilometers.
01:07
Once you have selected your area of interest, type a name for the model in the dialog box.
01:13
You also have the option to enter a description.
01:17
Next, select a coordinate system for the model.
01:20
It is important to note that this cannot be changed once you finalize your model creation.
01:26
The quickest option is to select LL84 for the coordinate system.
01:31
However, if you plan to send this model to other Autodesk applications,
01:36
such as Civil 3D or Revit,
01:38
you should choose a projected coordinate system instead of a geographic coordinate system.
01:44
Click Create Model.
01:46
InfraWorks will confirm that your model is being prepared.
01:50
When your model is ready, you will receive an email notification at the email address associated with your Autodesk Account.
01:58
Once it has been created, you can store your new model either in an Autodesk docs project folder or locally,
02:05
depending on your workflows and whether you need to share your model with a team.
02:09
To do this, in InfraWorks Home click the model tile.
02:14
A dialog box displays, prompting you to select your preferred storage method, Autodesk Docs or Local.
02:21
Now, you have successfully started your model and you can begin to configure and customize the model for your design.
