Use Autodesk Docs to upload new file versions, review version history, and compare files.

00:03

With Autodesk Docs in the ACC, you can upload, view, and manage versions of files.

00:09

To automatically create versions of documents, begin on the Docs Files page with the appropriate project folder open.

00:17

Then, from your device’s file explorer, navigate to a new version of the file you wish to upload.

00:23

Ensure the file has a matching name to the original file.

00:27

Drag and drop the file to the Files page.

00:30

An Upload files dialog displays with a loading bar, indicating the upload progress.

00:36

Click Done.

00:38

In this example, an updated file is uploaded that was associated with an issue.

00:43

From the Issues page, the status of the associated issue updates to Pending due to the new version upload.

00:50

Select the issue, and then from the Issue panel, under Placement, select the link to the updated document.

00:58

Once the document opens, review the versions of the document.

01:02

From the filename, the version number displays.

01:05

Expand the filename.

01:07

From this drop-down, select a previous version of the document.

01:12

This can be helpful if you need to review the issue before its status is changed and the new version of the document uploaded.

01:19

You can also compare two document versions, either using an overlay comparison or a side-by-side comparison.

01:26

In the document, select the issue.

01:29

From the Issue panel, select Compare.

01:33

The Compare documents dialog opens.

01:37

The compare feature lets you compare two versions of the same 2D or 3D file, or two different 2D files.

01:45

A comparison is useful if you want a clear view of any changes between files or file versions.

01:51

Select the two files you want to compare.

01:54

Note that you can change the file for comparison if you need to by clicking Change to select a different file.

02:01

Once you have the files you want selected, click Compare.

02:05

Then, view the updates.

02:07

The default view mode for comparisons is Overlay.

02:11

02:16

To change the view mode, from the toolbar, select Overlay > Side By Side.
