Account management for education

Overview: Education plan

Autodesk offers students and educators access to the same design software used by the world's leading professionals to help build the skills and knowledge for successful careers.

The Education plan gives eligible students and educators free* one-year, single-user access to Autodesk software and services for Educational Purposes. You can access all software available through the Education Community (US site), and access is renewable annually as long as you are eligible.

What's included

  • Autodesk software and services accessed through the Education plan contain the same features and functionality available through paid subscription.
  • Most Autodesk titles are available through the Education plan, including older versions and web services like A360 Rendering and Fusion 360.
  • Access includes the current version plus up to three prior versions (where available). For a list of software and services, see the Education Community site (US site).
  • Need a different language? Autodesk software and services are available in English. Certain titles may be available in additional languages. For more information about specific titles, see the Autodesk products page.

Usage restrictions

  • Software and services accessed through the Education plan may be used only for purposes directly related to learning, training, and research. They may not be used for commercial, professional, or any other for-profit purposes.
  • It's OK to use software and services accessed through the Education plan to design, create, and mentor entries in Autodesk-sponsored design competitions. For more information, see Eligibility requirements for students and educators.
  • Students must be 13 or older to participate in the Education plan.
  • Users may install Autodesk software on up to three devices.

Cloud services

Autodesk cloud services are software-as-a-service (SaaS) options that can improve the way you design, visualize, simulate, and share your work with others. Add-on services and selected optional components—as well as storage and services that require intensive computing power, such as rendering or simulation activity—are stored in a location that you can access any time you have an Internet connection.

Please use cloud services thoughtfully to help ensure good service levels for everyone. Education plan users who regularly consume cloud services beyond market average may face additional restrictions. Restrictions to cloud services may change without notice, see the Terms of Use (US site) for more information.

Prior educational licenses

In August 2020, Autodesk changed educational access for individuals from a serial number-based license model to a named-user subscription model that requires confirming eligibility for access.

In March 2020, Autodesk changed educational access from a three-year term to a one-year term. If you currently hold a one- or three-year single-user standalone (individual) educational license for Autodesk software that was issued before August 2020, the license will continue to run for its full term. When it expires, you will need to confirm your eligibility for the Education plan, then download the product to activate your license. There is no need to reinstall.

Subscription and license terms

The Terms of Use (TOU) (US site) provide the terms and conditions for use of software through the Education plan.

Autodesk Drive and other web services are offered under the terms of service agreement. The conditions that apply to a particular service may vary, so be sure to review the terms that accompany each service. These terms are in addition to any terms applicable to your use of any Autodesk software and subscriptions associated with a service and the website terms of use for autodesk.com and other Autodesk websites.

Verification and privacy

To help maintain our commitment to providing free professional software for use in education, Autodesk has engaged SheerID, a third-party verification services provider, to verify eligibility for educational access. To confirm eligibility, users must provide proof of enrollment, employment, or contractor status at a qualified educational institution.

Protecting the privacy of our customers is important to Autodesk. For more information on how your personal data is collected, used, and disclosed, see the Autodesk Privacy Statement (US site).
