    Description

Until recently, the construction industry has suffered a technology bypass, relying on centuries-old processes to manage projects that are getting more complex and demanding faster execution. This class will discuss how Building Information Modeling (BIM) is making a shift by industrializing construction and setting up off-site assembly lines for manufacturing modules that can just be assembled on-site by a lean team. Case studies will be discussed from several iconic, global project executions where assembly line manufacturing construction processes were deployed for amazingly fast construction, reducing the on-site work, wastages, and costs. The main focus of this class is using BIM to support modular design and industrialized construction. Attendees will learn when and how to set up these assembly lines and the challenges associated with them.

    Key Learnings

    • Learn about assembly line modularized production—when, why, and how
    • Learn about building the team, processes, and collaboration for successful industrialization
    • Understand the processes based on case studies of successful implementation in iconic projects across the globe
    • Understand the challenges and critical success factors
