Case Studies: Using Autodesk Products for 5D Design and Construction in Mexico

This class shows the benefits of 5D in different building types. We show examples of 5D in the following: (1) Precast: In Mexico City there are currently 2.3 million cars. That�s around 1,533 cars per square kilometer, which means a big problem for the population. The main solution for this problem was the construction of an elevated highway. Laser scanning helped us sort out many of the issues. We joined the point cloud and the project model together for clash detection, constructive simulations, cinematic studies, logistics for conflict solution and detailing; (2) Civil: Last year Mexico hosted the G20 summit. Presidents who attended this summit represent 90% of world's GDP. The event took place in a convention center that was built in a record time of 5 months. Using 5D was essential to deliver the building on time. We performed several constructive simulations for detecting schedule deviations, laser scanning for quality control, and daily progress monitoring for stakeholders.
