00:00

This is my favorite part.

00:02

Pulling the data into Revit.

00:04

If you haven't already, please refer to the first video in this course, which explains how to grab the Revit add on for Infraworks.

00:10

Once it's installed in Revit, follow these steps.

00:14

First, jump into Revit.

00:17

Under Models, let's go "New".

00:23

In my template file, I'm going head to drop down here.

00:26

And I'm going to grab imperial structural template.

00:28

If you want to grab another template, or you work in metric, that's fine.

00:31

I'm going to grab this one, though.

00:33

I'm going to click "OK".

00:36

Now the first thing I always like to do is just save the thing.

00:39

So, let's click the "Save" button.

00:43

Browse a directory that makes sense to you.

00:47

And we put mine in my Exercise files folder.

00:51

I'm going to call it Park Bridge.

00:54

For my options, I'm just going to keep one backup.

00:58

I'm going to click "OK".

01:01

Click "Save".

01:03

Now, let's go to the Add-ins tab.

01:07

We should have a civil structures panel.

01:10

Notice there's a few things we can do.

01:11

The first thing I'd like to do is go to category mapping.

01:15

It's important we do this before we import any objects.

01:19

I learned this lesson the hard way.

01:22

So, let's just go down through.

01:24

For Deck, we'll keep it at bridge decks.

01:27

For Abutments, I want to change that though to structural framing.

01:32

For Girders, I'm going to change to the structural framing.

01:37

For Bearing, let's go with structural columns.

01:40

For Piers, I'll change that to structural columns.

01:45

Foundations, let's go to structural foundations.

01:50

Generic features, I'm going to switch that the generic models, if it's not already.

01:55

Cross bracing and segment, we can keep those defaults.

01:59

Let's click "OK".

02:04

Okay, now for the big time.

02:06

Let's go to Import civil structures.

02:10

I'm going to browse where I'm keeping my exercise files.

02:13

I'm going to grab my Park Bridge.imx file.

02:19

I'm going to click to "Open".

02:22

It takes a little while.

02:26

It took a little while, but here it is.

02:30

You can go to a 3D view.

02:34

Very cool.

02:36

Okay, save the model and you are all set.
