Updating the demand diagram and network

Step-by-step Guide

In InfoWorks WS Pro, demand area analysis provides the necessary input for simulation runs. This is vital for both reviewing the current demand for water, and for projecting future potential demand areas where more resources may be needed.

After using the Demand Area Grid to edit demand areas, it is necessary to update the calculated profile in the Demand Diagram, or to update the calculations for leakage in the demand area in the network.

  1. Ensure the network, control, live data configuration, and demand diagram are open.
  2. From the Demand Area Grid, select each demand area.
  3. From the table margin of the demand area, right-click and select Update demand diagram and network.

In the InfoWorks WS Pro interface, Demand Area Grid View, the shortcut menu for Demand Area 35 is displayed and Update demand diagram and network is selected.

  1. In the Update Demand Diagram and Network dialog box, under Leakage, select Property-Based Demand.

In the Update Demand Diagram and Network dialog box, under Leakage, Property-Based Demand is selected and highlighted in red.

This updates the Specific Consumption values in the Demand Grid on the Node Demand Page, with Specific Consumption calculated from the demand area analysis. Demand diagrams are updated based on category type, either property-based or average, as defined on the demand diagram. If no average demand categories require updating, it is greyed out.

Note: If Customer Points with average demand are used in the network, do not enable “Update Demand in Network”, as it overwrites the existing demand data.

  1. Click OK.
