in this video you'll learn how to duplicate views in various ways.
00:10
You will see how to duplicate views
00:12
with and without duplicating view specific elements.
00:16
You will also see how to duplicate views as dependent views
00:26
in rev it there are tools to create new views
00:30
but there are also tools to duplicate existing views.
00:35
For example
00:37
in the project browser.
00:39
When I right click one of the views,
00:41
you can see that there is a duplicate view option
00:45
and there are three tools here
00:48
duplicate,
00:49
duplicate with detailing
00:51
and duplicate as a dependent.
00:55
Let's take a look at each option.
00:58
Duplicate will duplicate the view
01:01
but not any of the view specific elements.
01:05
For example you can see here. The difference between the original view
01:10
and the new view which we just duplicated.
01:13
Is that the duplicate does not have any of the tags or dimensions.
01:19
But if I go back to the original view, the ground floor,
01:24
overall view and right click and select duplicate view duplicate with detailing.
01:32
Then the view is duplicated
01:34
and the view specific elements are also duplicated.
01:40
After duplicating a view, you typically will rename the view.
01:45
So for the second one the one that we duplicated with detailing.
01:50
All right click and select rename
01:54
and I'll name this one. Ground floor dash furniture
02:05
and the first one I'll simply right click and delete it.
02:11
Additionally the third option will duplicate a view and make it a dependent view.
02:18
Let's take a look at how that works
02:21
in the with the ground floor. Overall view.
02:25
All right click
02:26
and select duplicate view
02:29
duplicate as a dependent
02:32
and when I do that,
02:34
a new view is created
02:36
and it's actually below the ground floor. Overall view
02:41
that becomes a branch in the project browser
02:44
that I can collapse and expand.
02:47
I'll do that one more time.
02:49
I'll right click and select duplicate view,
02:52
duplicate as a dependent
02:56
And now we have two dependent views.
02:60
All right, click each one and rename it
03:04
And one I'll call ground floor area a.
03:11
And the other one I'll right click and select rename
03:15
and rename it
03:16
ground floor area B.
03:23
And so what this does is this allows us
03:25
to create smaller areas of an overall building.
03:30
So in the case where the floor plan view cannot
03:34
fit on the desired sheet at a certain scale,
03:37
you can break it down into smaller areas by creating dependent views.
03:44
And so the next step would be to create scope
03:46
boxes and use those to define the various areas.
03:51
And then we could assign scope boxes to the views to control those crop regions.
03:58
So as you can see there are three duplicate tools
04:04
that you can use to create new views in your project
00:04
