Produce schedules

00:01

in this video we will cover creating schedules and filtering,

00:06

sorting and grouping.

00:07

Schedule. Information

00:10

schedules are a great way to report the information in your building model.

00:16

To create a schedule,

00:18

scroll down to the schedules quantities Branch in the project browser,

00:22

right click

00:23

and select new schedule quantities,

00:27

This opens the new schedule dialog and you can select the

00:30

category of elements that you want to create a schedule for

00:35

if you want to include multiple categories of elements.

00:39

You can select multi category

00:42

for this example, I'll select air terminals

00:47

when I do.

00:48

You can see that the name fills in automatically

00:51

but you can customize this as needed.

00:55

Next you can choose to schedule building components or schedule keys.

01:01

Schedule keys is what you would use if you were creating a space schedule.

01:05

That was going to contain

01:07

a lot of information and that information can

01:10

be customized by something like a space type

01:13

for this example we're going to schedule building components and

01:17

that's probably what you'll use most of the time.

01:20

And then lastly we can choose the phase.

01:24

So if we were working with a phased

01:26

project we could schedule existing air terminals or

01:29

if there were multiple phases in this project

01:31

we could choose to create a schedule for

01:34

one of those other phases but in this case we're

01:36

going to select new construction and then click OK.

01:41

This opens the schedule. Properties dialog.

01:44

And the first thing you should do is add fields

01:47

to the list of scheduled fields

01:49

and these are the parameters that will be added to the schedule

01:54

at the top. You can select available fields from

01:58

air terminals.

01:58

And if you expand this, you can also choose room space or project information.

02:04

If you wanted to

02:06

add parameters from one of those

02:09

with their terminals selected you can see air

02:12

terminal parameters in the list of available fields

02:16

and you can select one and then click add parameters.

02:21

For example, I will select type, Mark

02:24

and then click add parameters.

02:27

You can also double click a field such as family and type

02:31

and it will be added to the list of scheduled fields.

02:35

You can also add flow

02:38

and then we will add

02:41

manufacturer and model

02:45

a quick note here. If you see

02:47

multiple or duplicate values in this list of available fields

02:51

that is likely from shared parameters

02:55

and there can be multiple shared parameters that are added with the same name.

02:59

Because Rabbit is looking at the shared parameter G, Y D. And so if you had

03:05

aired terminals from different sources that had different shared parameters

03:09

with the same name, then you may see duplicate parameters here.

03:17

A couple more items to note on this tab of the scheduled properties,

03:21

dialog is you can add a calculated parameter.

03:25

And if you click that,

03:27

you can then customize some type of calculated value to add to the schedule.

03:32

You can also combine parameters and let's say you wanted to add the men,

03:37

maybe you added the men flow in the max flow.

03:39

You can combine those into a single field using the combined parameters.

03:45

If you had multiple models and they

03:49

were linked together you could include elements,

03:52

you could select include elements and links

03:54

if you wanted to add those air terminals to the same schedule.

03:59

And so if you want to you can

04:01

schedule elements from linked files. That's

04:03

this option right here.

04:06

I'll click OK. And we'll go ahead and create the schedule.

04:09

And when I do you can see that every air terminal in the project

04:13

is listed in the schedule

04:15

and so that may or may not be what you want to do

04:19

in this case? It's not We do not want to schedule

04:21

every single air terminal.

04:23

And so what we will need to do is either adjust the

04:26

filtering or the sorting and we'll take a look at that.

04:30

So on the properties palette next to sorting, grouping. I'll click edit

04:34

and this will open the sorting grouping tab of the scheduled properties dialog

04:39

and an important option to pay attention to is itemize every instance.

04:43

So with this option selected,

04:46

it's going to include every single item of that category.

04:50

If I deselect it

04:51

what appears will then be based on what I choose to sort by.

04:57

So in this case, if we choose to sort by family and type

05:01

and then click OK.

05:02

Our schedule is then sorted by family and type.

05:08

You could add additional levels of sorting in the on

05:12

the sorting grouping tab of the scheduled Properties dialog.

05:15

There are three other than by options

05:18

if you wanted to also sort by.

05:21

So you had a manufacturer listed, you could do that

05:24

or any other parameter for that matter.

05:29

Now, you'll notice that we do not have a type mark specified and

05:34

schedules are not just a great way of reporting information,

05:38

but you can also input information into a schedule as well.

05:43

So for example,

05:44

let's say our supply diffusers will start with the 24 by 24 face six inch neck

05:49

and we will have this be a So if I type A and press enter,

05:54

it says that this this change will be applied to all elements of this type.

05:59

So this is actually a tight mark is a type parameter. So it will apply to all those

06:05

and then we'll just continue adding a few options here

06:10

for the type mark.

06:13

And as you can see that is filling in.

06:16

Now, if I were to go to those air terminals and look at the type properties,

06:20

you would see this value

06:23

next. Let's look at filtering.

06:25

So I have some type mark values now, so I can actually filter based off of that.

06:30

So let's say I just wanted to include the supply diffusers.

06:34

There's a since I cannot filter based off a family and type,

06:38

I could filter off of the type mark and I could choose that type, mark,

06:43

that has a value.

06:45

So in this case it's just my supply diffusers and so I could.

06:49

That's one way that I could go about it.

06:51

But there are multiple ways to filter schedules.

06:55

So as you can see here, I can filter off of most of the parameters that I have added.

06:59

So I could filter off a flow equals a certain value if I wanted

07:04

to do that or flow is greater than and then choose a specific value.

07:10

And so you can, depending on the needs of your project,

07:13

you can get creative with your filters.

07:18

Okay,

07:18

let's say that I wanted to center the type mark values and center the flow values.

07:24

You can do that

07:25

in the on the formatting tab

07:28

on the formatting tab.

07:29

If I select type mark,

07:30

I can control the heading orientation and then

07:33

I can also control the horizontal alignment.

07:36

So if I select center

07:37

then the type mark values will be centered

07:41

click. Ok. And we can take a look at that.

07:43

So there's a lot of flexibility here to get these things to look like you want them to.

07:49

You can also add some conditional formatting.

07:51

So if you wanted to do a conditional formatting based off of the flow,

07:55

uh you could do something like that.

07:58

Lastly on the appearance tab.

07:60

You can control the graphics,

08:02

such as the the line styles that use for your grid lines or even the outline.

08:08

And then you can you can also stripe rose if you if you wish to do that.

08:14

and then text,

08:15

you can control whether or not to show the title or

08:18

the headers and then control those that the fonts as well.

08:23

So,

08:23

as you can see lots of ways to customize your schedules

08:27

so that you can report the information in your building model.
