Create linear and aligned dimensions in Fusion drawings

Add linear and aligned dimensions to your Fusion drawings with the Dimension, Linear Dimension, and Aligned Dimension tools.

00:03

In the Drawing workspace in Fusion,

00:06

you can use the tools in the Dimension group of the toolbar to add measurements to orthogonal drawing views.

00:13

You can add point-to-point, edge-to-edge, or point-to-edge dimensions

00:18

using the Dimension, Linear Dimension, and Aligned Dimension tools.

00:22

With a drawing open in the Drawing workspace, on the toolbar, expand the Dimensions menu.

00:30

From here, you can select the Dimension tool to automatically create an appropriate dimension based on the selected element.

00:38

Select the Linear Dimension tool to create a dimension that measures the horizontal or vertical distance between two points.

00:46

Or, you can select the Aligned Dimension tool to create precise measurements that are shown parallel to the selected edges or points.

00:55

First, from the Navigation toolbar, click Zoom Window, then draw a window to zoom in to the top projected view.

01:05

To use the Dimension tool, press D; or, from the Dimensions menu, select Dimension.

01:14

In the drawing, select two edges, two points, or an edge and a point.

01:19

Then, click again in the desired location to place the dimension.

01:25

In this case, they are linear dimensions.

01:28

Pan to the front projected view, and again, select the Dimension tool.

01:33

Then, in the drawing, select an edge, and then click to place an aligned dimension.

01:40

Or, select an edge or a point, and then an edge for a linear dimension.

01:46

Selecting two points can create either an aligned dimension,

01:51

or, if you move the pointer down in line with the bottom point, a linear dimension.

01:57

You can specify either a linear or an aligned dimension by using the corresponding tool.

02:04

From the Dimensions menu, select Linear Dimension.

02:09

Now, no matter which two points you select, a linear dimension is created.

02:15

Select Aligned Dimension, and again, no matter which points you select, an aligned dimension is created.

02:23

Click to place the dimension.

02:25

You can also create linear or aligned dimensions between circles and arcs.

02:32

For example, select Linear Dimension, and then select the center of a circle and a point.

02:39

Click to place the linear dimension.

02:42

You can also specify two center points.

02:46

To zoom out and see the entire drawing, click Fit on the Navigation bar.
