Autodesk administrator roles

Identify the administrator roles required for the management of Autodesk accounts.

00:03

As an admin, you assign users to products and services under the User management function of Autodesk Account.

00:11

User management includes four types of administrative roles.

00:14

The primary admin manages users and their access to products,

00:19

assigns secondary admins and SSO admins,

00:22

and can reassign another secondary admin to become primary admin.

00:27

Primary admins can manage a single sign-on (SSO) configuration, which serves as a main point of contact to Autodesk.

00:35

A team can have only one primary admin, and that same person can serve as the primary admin for more than one team.

00:42

By default, the initial purchaser—also known as the contract manager—takes on the role of primary admin.

00:49

The role of primary admin can be reassigned to another person who has the role of secondary admin.

00:55

The contract manager receives notification emails relating to a subscription or contract,

01:01

manages billing and renewals, assigns new subscriptions to a team,

01:06

moves subscriptions to a different team (note that this requires also holding a primary or secondary admin role),

01:13

and serves as a main point of contact to Autodesk.

01:16

By default, the initial purchaser of the license becomes the contract manager.

01:21

There is only one contract manager per subscription or contract.

01:26

The same person can be contract manager for multiple subscriptions or contracts.

01:31

The role of contract manager can be reassigned for licenses purchased through resellers,

01:36

but not for licenses purchased from the Autodesk store.

01:40

The secondary admin manages users and their access to products,

01:45

assigns additional secondary admins and can reassign the primary admin,

01:50

manages billing and renewals (please note that this requires also holding a contract manager role),

01:56

and views and exports product usage reports for all teams.

02:01

A team can have multiple secondary admins.

02:04

Secondary admins are assigned by the primary admin, by another secondary admin,

02:09

or by an SSO admin.

02:11

Secondary admins have visibility into users and products of the team to which they are assigned.

02:18

The single sign-on (SSO) admin manages users and their access to products,

02:24

assigns additional secondary admins and can reassign the primary admin,

02:29

and views and exports product usage reports for all teams within single user subscriptions

02:34

and Flex (note that this excludes Token Flex).

02:38

A team can have multiple SSO admins.

02:42

SSO admins can manage an SSO configuration (as can the primary admin).

02:48

Understanding the different roles of account admins allows you to streamline your workflows and optimize task delegation.
