Adjust automation settings in Fusion

Control the drawing automation settings in the Drawing workspace in Autodesk Fusion.

00:03

You can adjust the drawing automation settings easily in Fusion.

00:07

Begin in the Drawing workspace with a drawing template or a new drawing open.

00:14

In the Browser, place your pointer over the Document Settings node, then click Change Document Settings.

00:22

The Document Settings dialog opens.

00:25

Before you make changes here, note that changes to the drawing automation will not be applied to the current drawing.

00:33

Rather, they will be applied to the next drawing created that uses the selected template settings.

00:40

In the Document Settings dialog, click the Automation Settings tab, and then choose the desired options.

00:48

Scroll the list to review the many options you have control over for the main assembly, subassembly, components, and more.

00:56

For instance, you can even control which component names to omit from sheet creation.

01:02

In the Omit Components with Components Name Keywords text box, type any components for which you do not want a sheet to be created.

01:12

Please note that fasteners from the Fasteners library are omitted automatically.

01:18

In this example, some small parts and “Ref” are listed.

01:23

Some organizations will include “Ref” in part names that are used only as reference parts in the design,

01:31

so listing Ref here will prevent those parts from being included in the drawings.

01:37

As you are entering these, also keep in mind that the Omit List applies to related component names as well.

01:44

For this example, if a component is called “Walnut Base”, it would be omitted, because “Nut” is listed in the Omit List.

01:53

In the Document Settings dialog, click the View Defaults tab to change the drawing view defaults.

02:01

Here, you can adjust the Type, Style, Edge Visibility, and the look of center marks and center lines.

02:08

When you are finished making changes, click OK to save the settings,

02:13

or click Push To Template to save the settings to any existing template.
