Sync an Autodesk Construction Cloud project with your local machine using Desktop Connector.
Transcript
00:03
Desktop Connector works seamlessly with Civil 3D to allow you to work locally on your machine, while also saving files to the cloud.
00:12
A virtual drive, or connector, serves as a bridge between local files and cloud data, enabling efficient workflows and easier collaboration.
00:21
Open Windows Explorer, where you can see the Autodesk Docs folder that acts as a drive letter on your local machine.
00:28
The account folder—in this case, JWB Engineering ACC—is where your synced cloud projects are stored.
00:36
The projects stored here should be those on which you are actively working.
00:41
Once you have created a project in the cloud, you can add it to this virtual drive to keep the files synced with your desktop.
00:48
Open Desktop Connector, expand Settings, and click Select Projects.
00:55
The Select Projects dialog displays, where you can choose the projects you want to sync locally.
01:01
First, select an account.
01:03
Here, multiple accounts are shown, but in most cases, you will only have one.
01:09
Expand your account to view the projects available for syncing.
01:13
In this example, there are several projects selected that are already synced locally, and you can see these in Windows Explorer as well.
01:21
In the dialog, you can select or deselect projects as needed to sync them.
01:26
In this case, Wesley Rd Extension is selected.
01:30
Then, click Save.
01:32
A message informs you that the projects are connected.
01:35
It is important to understand that, while you can synchronize several projects, best practice is to sync only the ones you are actively working on.
01:44
Close the Select Projects dialog.
01:47
Back in Windows Explorer, the project appears immediately.
01:51
To confirm that the project exists locally, double-click the Wesley Rd Extension folder,
01:57
then open the Project Files > CAD Files folder, where you see the expected .dwg files.
02:05
Next, return to Project Files and open the Plan Sheets folder, where you see the plans for the project.
02:12
These are the folders where you work and save files locally.
02:16
Now that the ACC project is added to the account folder on your local drive,
02:21
Desktop Connector will sync any changes to the cloud and version the files automatically.
02:26
For more information about project synchronization, see the Desktop Connector Help pages.
