Edit a project template

Edit a project template, and archive or restore a project template.

00:03

In the Autodesk Construction Cloud,

00:05

project templates help save time in project creation and ensure consistency across projects within the same account.

00:12

Once you create a project template, you can easily edit the template to meet changing needs.

00:18

You can also archive a template, and restore it for use when needed.

00:23

Begin in ACC with a project template already created that you wish to edit.

00:28

Expand the project menu, select the Templates tab, and click View all templates.

00:36

This opens the Project Templates tab, and in this instance, the Civil Template being edited is at the top of the list.

00:43

Here, the Quick access field is set to Build, so this is updated to Docs, which opens the Civil Template in Docs for editing.

00:52

Expand the product picker to select the different modules for editing.

00:56

If you want to adjust Configuration settings, it is best practice to do this in the Project Admin module.

01:03

If you select Permissions in the Docs module, you do not always have access to all members.

01:09

However, if you select Project Admin,

01:12

and then select the Permissions tab, you can see that you now have access to edit member permissions.

01:19

To edit the directory structure of your template, expand the product picker and select Docs.

01:24

Then, in the navigation panel, select Files.

01:29

Here, you can rename, create new, or delete existing directories, as well as upload files for the template.

01:38

Switch to the Project Admin module again, and on the Details tab, you can rename the template.

01:45

Here, you can also select Archive to unpublish the template.

01:49

In the Archive template dialog, click Archive again to remove the template from the list.

01:55

Once a template is archived, only an Account Admin can access or restore it.

02:01

If this is your role, switch to the Account Admin module, and in the navigation panel, select Project templates.

02:09

On the Active tab, you can see the active templates for the account.

02:13

Select Archived to view the list of archived templates.

02:17

To restore a template, click the More menu and select Restore.

02:22

In addition, as with the project template creation process, Civil 3D recognizes the folders that are set up in ACC.

02:30

So, when you edit, archive, or restore an existing template, the changes are reflected in the folder structure there as well.
