Adding a leg rotation control

Add a leg rotation control by creating two IK handles that follow the driver leg.

00:04

OK. Now we need to work on the ICA leg.

00:07

So isolate it

00:11

this time, we want to rotate plain solver

00:15

but create this. So it goes from the first joint just to the third here.

00:22

Rename this to calf left IK handle.

00:25

We're calling it calf simply because it's the

00:28

same as the joint where the handle position is

00:31

now create a second I care handle.

00:34

This time, we want a single chain solver

00:37

and create this from the calf to the foot joint.

00:43

Call this hock left I can handle.

00:46

We used a rotate plane solver above. So we have the option to position the knee

00:52

with the single chain solver. We don't need that option.

00:55

So it's safer to just use that.

00:58

So we now have two handles controlling this IK leg.

01:03

What we now need is for these handles to follow the driver leg.

01:07

So basically what we're gonna end up with

01:09

is the spline IK controls the driver skeleton

01:13

and then that in turn is going to control the positions of these two I care handles.

01:20

So first apparently calf I care handle to the calf driver joint

01:25

and then the hawk eye care handle to the foot, drive a joint.

01:30

If we bring back the rest of the creature now

01:34

and move the foot control.

01:36

You see that the leg is now following

01:39

and we are getting the nice compression along the limb.

01:44

Now, we could just get this using the spring solver directly on the IKEA leg.

01:49

But we want to give the animator more control

01:51

over how the light can be posed and animated.
